Don't be afraid to give love a chance

We are advanced human beings, aren't we? We have become all about getting our dream jobs, working day and night to get a better recognition, to get a better standard of living, telling the world what's on our minds, and trying to socialise with a gazillion people aiming to be popular, and yet it seems to me that our generation may have forgotten the value of one simple yet beautiful thing... love.
I've been this person, I still am this and I probably will be this. But hey, there's always hope they say. So before you judge me or this write up to be a cheesy single woman's rant, just hear me out okay? okay.

1. We say we are available, but are we really available..?

Yes, we are out there, yes we tell everyone that we are single and how we are ready to mingle - be it on social media websites, on dating apps, at parties, all this, but when it's time to get to the grind, are we really available? Not so much. We are afraid of love happening, we are afraid of getting our hearts broken, we are afraid of the commitment and hard work it takes to make it happen and make it long lasting, therefore we shun ourselves from the most amazing thing.. love.

2. Let's admit it, it's all about the 'chase.' And once you get the girl/guy, ka-boom, it's just downhill from there.

You know how the drill goes, you meet someone new. Exchange numbers. All-day and late-night conversations. Cute name calling, texting, calling, face-timing, question-answer games, everything under the sun. Dates, hanging out, holding hands, kissing, hugging.. the list goes on UNTIL all of this becomes too familiar and you lose interest. Sweetheart becomes pain in the bloody arse. The one you couldn't wait to get come home and talk to now is a chore, all sounds too familiar doesn't it?
And then you opt to meet someone new. Exchange numbers. All-day and late-night conversations.. yadi yadi ya....all that jazz, all over again. Stop! It is a vicious cycle. You get the point right? Basically, you need to keep the chase going, it's the only way.

3. Dire need for an ideal and the inability to look beyond imperfections.

Sadly, we are so obsessed with perfection that we can't deal with the smallest of flaws. How many times have you heard someone say "He is really nice but his teeth are crooked." "She is smart and funny but she is chubby".  I know this because I am no different, but I have come to realise that there is beauty in imperfections. ( although that sounds like a cheesy line from some John Green movie, it is true).
We are no longer children, we need to accept that the world is much more than her weight, how he looks. If he/she makes you feel like no body else does, there you have it!  Hold on to that my friend because that's all that matters, the rest.. oh just screw the rest.

4. Is love what we really think it is?

Let's face it. Most people have grown up imagining love to be a walk in the park,  a dream come true and you know the butterflies the in the stomach type. And I hate to say this, but most of us haven't been in love and don't even understand what it is. For people today, it's a game that we think we know too well.
Like every good thing in life, love it a choice, it takes effort, love takes commitment, love takes dedication. There'll be plenty of tears, there'll be of times you'll just want to rip your hair off rather than being with the other person but it's the price you need to be willing to pay for love, the real kind of love. The one that makes you feel like no one else has. Fight for it, cherish it and keep it alive. It's hard to come by.. so I've heard.

5.  Giving up and messed up priorities.

Okay so you've had a bad day, may be a bad week or even a few bad months with each other? But are you really going to give up that easily? You don't throw away something special/valuable when it's broken, you bloody fix it right? Since when did we become such push-overs? The slightest flaw makes you believe that it's not worth it? Why are we too arrogant to take a step down, put the past behind and start over? Is it really that hard?
Oh let's not forget about our righteous priorities, which we talk so very high of. Look at us, how far we have "advanced". We put so much of care and effort into material things than love. Most of us would rather have an i phone, fancy clothes or a luxury house than to have someone to share it with.
My phone, my clothes, my watch, my car, my house - it is all about materialistic things, isn't it? Priorities man, priorities?

6. The 'Let's-end-this-before-it-gets-started' technique.

Okay, this is me, point blank. I met this incredible man, I was and still am so much in love but I was too very afraid. Afraid that it was too good to be real, afraid that it would end, afraid that he would leave me. And bam, my fear manifested into a reality. Before I could even let our newly found love blossom into anything, I had already imagined it ending in my mind. Man oh man have I learnt my lesson.  If I could go back and re-do the way I handled myself, surely I'd still be the happiest person alive. (*blush* yes, he did make me feel like I was the happiest person alive, so f*cking cheesy, I know. But it's the truth. He was special, he was love. The real kinda love)
Okay so what I'm trying to get at is that, we as humans are afraid. Afraid to fall in love, afraid to be loved,  get into a relationship, afraid to call it a relationship, afraid of what other's think.. afraid to dump, afraid to get dumped. We are very, very afraid. Good Lord, bless us!

7. The quickies, if you may.

We are living in a world where we we meet people at a rapid pace and we drop them even faster. Meet someone. A good date or two. Make out. Have sex. You have an amazing connection, but hey, anything further than the casual thing is just too much of an effort, right? Wrong! Absolutely nothing happens by chance (you can disagree, no problem. this is what I believe) Think about it, 7.3 something billion people in the world and yet you crossed path with this one person. And suddenly you feel something you've never felt before. But sadly, moments like these don't seem to last for long anymore, as soon as things get a tad ugly, you throw away everything that was good along with it.

It seems like we can't stop looking for options - for something better. We do not want to settle for less. It's the sad truth isn't it? If we only pursue the ones we love the way we pursue other successes in life, what a beautiful world this would be? Take your time with the one you love, let him/her make her mistakes, forgive them, let them grow with you, love them harder each time. The end result just might be bloody beautiful.

8. "The right time"

We don't have enough time for love and when we do, "It's not the right time." For Pete's sake, there is never going to be a right time or a right situation. You love someone, you got to protect it, you got to be willing to make time, you got to be willing to go that extra mile. You and I know, that there's never going to be a day when you're "ready for love". It just happens when you least expect it, and when it happens, don't be foolish. Give it all you got. Let go of your big fa ego. Tell her that you love her. Be the first one to ask him out. Spend time watching that movie with her, listen to him when he talks about his dreams, make time to make that call in the night. Visit each other, travel together. Get to know each other, make plans to grow together. Just do it!
Because daring, while your in the midst of everything else, love might just pass you by, and you'll be sorry. I've seen people who let go of something that was worth fighting for and the regret their eyes hold. It's something that lives on...

I can go on forever and ever, but the point I'm really trying to get to is that, take time to love. Being able to love and being loved, in this chaotic world, is a rare and yet incredibly successful and beautiful thing one can achieve.

I'm no one to talk but take a shot and give love a chance! It just might be worth it. To everyone who's thinking of rekindling lost love, go for it! Who's to say that this time it won't be everything you ever wished for?
(I suppose I'll have to admit that there's a little bit hypocrisy in the latter part of it, but hey life isn't over yet, who know's what will happen. I'll keep you posted)

I wish you well!

I am nostalgic, romantic and demand happy endings.

I write to find strength.
I write to become the person that hides inside me.
I write to light the way through the darkness for others.
I write to be seen and heard.
I write to be near those I love.
I write by accident, promptings, purposefully and anywhere there is paper.
I write because my heart speaks a different language that someone needs to hear.
I write past the embarrassment of exposure.
I write because hypocrisy doesn’t need answers, rather it needs questions to heal.
I write myself out of nightmares.
I write because I am nostalgic, romantic and demand happy endings.
I write to remember.
I write knowing conversations don’t always take place.
I write because speaking can’t be reread.
I write to sooth a mind that races.
I write because you can play on the page like a child left alone in the sand.
I write because my emotions belong to the moon; high tide, low tide.
I write knowing I will fall on my words, but no one will say it was for very long.
I write because I want to paint the world the way I see love should be.
I write to provide a legacy.
I write to make sense out of senselessness.
I write knowing I will be killed by my own words, stabbed by critics, crucified by both misunderstanding and understanding.
I write for the haters, the lovers, the lonely, the brokenhearted and the dreamers.
I write because one day someone will tell me that my emotions were not a waste of time.
I write because God loves stories.
I write because one day I will be gone, but what I believed and felt will live on.

Learning to let go

I promise you, you'll love someone else. You'll make new friends, you'll find new coworkers and neighbours. They might just turn out to be as amazing like what you had before.

If it's too hard, or if there is someone who's making you feel bad, walk away. Be it a job, be it a relationship, be it a friendship. Know when to walk away, and walk with your head held high.

There are going to be many people who won't make you feel as bad, may be even a million of them. Who's to say this is the end?

Learning to let go of something or someone that does not make you happy is one of the most librating experiences one can have. Learning to let go of what is not right is learning to respect your self. Respect yourself. You owe it to you.

Don't fret. Let go. There are seven billion people in the world, hey.

Magical Mystery

And she loved a boy very, very much
- even more than she loved her self

She saw galaxies in his eyes,
Heard music in his heart beats
His touch gave her shivers
She saw love in his soul

She knew, she knew right then,
That he was magic, he was happiness,
He was 'the one' in her sparking eyes

Unjust is the world, cruel are the odds,
Love is evil, spell it backwards and you'll see
Just like every good thing,
this magical mastery had to end

And she loved a boy very, very much
That she let him go, live life and find happiness.
Her soul is lost, forever will be lost in him

She let go because she wanted him to be happy
She let him go, because she was lost for choices
And because she loved this boy, very very much.

Life is an unpredictable b*tch sometimes

And all she could remember was way she held your hand, staring into the sky, the cold breeze giving her the shivers.

She was happy. She felt her heart race. Then it struck her. This was it. You had to go. But she wanted you. Wanted to hold your hand forever. Tears started to crawl down her face. How could she be so happy and devastated at the same time.

She had no choice. She had to let go. She had to move on. She chose devastation over happiness.

Life is an unpredictable b*tch sometimes. Learn to accept it and you will learn to live it out.

She will always have an unread book in her bag.

You should date a girl who reads.

Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes, who has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she has found the book she wants. You see that weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a secondhand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow and worn.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas, for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry and in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.
Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who read understand that all things must come to end, but that you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.
You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn't burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes.

Love you K <3

Do you like you?

When you're all alone, the world around you is asleep, and you're all by yourself. Do you like you? Are you happy with who you are? Are you happy of what you've become?

Take a minute, look at yourself in the  mirror. Perhaps you can start to think of ways you can fall in love with yourself, instead of ways to winning the heart of another.

Why are you so hard on yourself? Is the the freckles on your face that bothers you so much? Is it because you can no longer fit into a size 8 pair of jeans? That obsessive need to be accepted. Busting your credit card on expensive things just to fit it? Is this really you or are you trying to impress the rest of the world?

Stop. Hold it right there. Why do you need someone else's approval to know your worth? Stop comparing yourself to others, they all walk a different path. It's all about perception, stop trying to be something or someone you are not just to fit in. It's not worth it.

Imperfection is beautiful. Embrace it.  Believe it. Learn to love yourself, and the rest of the world will follow on.
